Mended Roof Tiles?
Local Stockton Roofer says no way.
First of all "mending" roof tiles is not mentioned anywhere in any manual or specification regarding repairing tile roofing & that is not by accident.
In this frame alone there are 3 Breaks, left a 3-1/2" corner chip, center a 6 inch break that has been "mended" and right a broken tile also "mended". Remember this is one small area on a large roof, there were spots like this all over the roof.
We do not agree with this practice, it is short term because the tile is stone
which gets very hot - baking the sealant which normally fails within 1 year
just as it has here. At Certified Roof & Inspection we replace broken tiles.
Real Roofers Know that the only time sealant is appropriate is when failure of the sealant is not likely to result in a roof leak, such as a corner chip but never for larger breaks.
