Just finished this new roof in Stockton, Ca.  
To start we remove the old roofing shingles & take them to a local recycling facility. Then the sheathing is checked for rotted wood or defects that would affect the integrity of the new roof.
Once the wood surface is good to go, we install new lifetime composition shingles. With the latest advances in roofing material manufacturing, and more stringent environmental regulations it makes sense to use cool roof shingles, which we try to use on every new roofing job.

On every new roof we include all new roof flashing with a new roof and if the homeowner has elected to replace the rain gutters, we install steel rain gutters with all down spouts & gutter drains soldered rather than caulked.

Certified Roof requires a 10% deposit before he begins work. Once they receive the deposit, they call to set up an appointment. I called before they did because an impending storm was coming. I spoke to Ron at Certified Roof about my concern and he told me he would be out as soon as the rain subsided. He repaired the missing shingles the next day when the rain had stopped for a few hours. Ron was professional and courteous every step of the way. I would definitely use his services again.

When a roof develops a leak, 95% of the time it will be at the point where the roofing materials  intersect with a roof flashing of some type.

That is why when installing a new roof it is important that ALL NEW FLASHINGS are a part of the job. That being said, over the years I have come across many roofing quotes that specify new roof flashings only to find that when the work was actually done, some of the roof flashings were not actually replaced.

Flashings that tend to get skipped are the electrical mast flashing, chimney flashing and skylight flashing, because they are more expensive to replace than the others.

Project: Clean and Seal DecksRon is very courteous and professional. He power washed, did some repairs, and stained/sealed our deck for us. He ran into some unexpected issues, as in the deck needing more repairs than he originally thought, and took care of them very professionally. He did a very nice job and we thought so much of him, we hired him to do the same to our roof.

Seeing is believing, a good roof inspection will include photos of the defects called out in the report.
Two - What are the roof inspector's qualifications?
